Emmaline: Must Try Houston Brunch Spot

Who doesn’t love a good Sunday brunch?! My good friend and I made plans to have brunch and decided to try this Instagram worthy place and we were not disappointed! Y’all, let me start by saying: ALL. THE. HEART. EYES. for Emmaline! This new Houston restaurant is such a beautiful brunch spot! Emmaline is described as an American Restaurant with Europen influences. We did not have reservations (I don’t think they take Sunday reservations) so we decided to arrive around opening time. The exterior of the restaurant is painted in all white brick with black window, fence and stair case accents. The beautiful name Emmaline just pops from the white wall. Simple and beautiful.

When you walk in you’re just trying to look everywhere and check out the place! We walked in and were greeted by a friendly host and seated in the Sun Room. Emmaline has several seating areas, the larger area is the dining room, which you walk into when walking into the restaurant. They have a nice size bar located in the center. We were seated in the Sun Room, which is located to the left upon entering the restaurant. There is also plenty of patio seating for those beautiful Houston spring days! Emmaline also has a mezzanine located on the second level. LOVED this space! I want that patio look in my back yard! That white brick just looks so good! I believe they sometimes seat and serve up there and can also be booked for a private party.

So, on to the food! SO GOOD! It was only two of us so we only tried a couple of things. Next time we are making it a couples brunch so we can try other dishes! Since I hadn’t had my coffee that morning, I ordered a latte…and a mimosa on the side of course! The dishes are a nice size to share with another if you are wanting to sample. Several options on the menu sounded good but finally decided we would try the Eggs Florentine (creamed spinach, classic hollandaise, Thomas’ English muffin, Tuscan potatoes), Pastry Cream Stuffed French Toast (maple-cured pancetta, vincotto, side of lemon curd and strawberry sauce) and an order of their daily scones.

If you like eggs benedict you will enjoy the Eggs Florentine—it comes with a side of potatoes, which are a little spicy—I didn’t mind because I like spice!

The Pastry Cream Stuffed French Toast was so good! Just the perfect amount of texture and sweetness. You don’t need to add anything to it, just grab your fork and dig in!

The scones of the day were Coconut & Currant scones. Honestly, I’m not a big scone person, I never order scones. I don’t think I’ve ever tried a scone! They just always look like they are hard crunchy pastry to me BUT I tried these and was pleasantly surprised! I’ve been missing out on scones all this time (like I need to find another pastry to like)! These scones were soft and buttery with a biscuit like texture. So good! We ended our brunch with hot tea.

The service at Emmaline was great! From the complimentary valet, to the hostess, to the waiters. I am definitely looking forward to returning to this beautiful spot and trying other dishes! Check out the Emmaline website and see all they have to offer. Looks like they have a DJ for Saturday Brunch! They also have “Tea under the E” coming soon which would be nice for an afternoon girlfriend time!
