Dip Powder Nail: Tried It and Loving It!

This past Thursday was mani/pedi time so I finally decided to see what all the rage was about and tried the Dip Powder Nail! Lately it seemed like every time I went to get my mani/pedi someone next to me was getting the Dip Powder Nail and I was curious. So the last time I was there I asked what it was and decided I would try it on my next mani. I usually do walk-in at Venetian Nail Spa in Vintage Park and have not been dissapointed–everyone I’ve had has done a good job. This time Tee at Venetian Nail Spa is who did my dip powder nail mani and he was very friendly and did a great job! I told him it was my first time getting this type of mani and he walked me through the process. I am a huge fan of the gel mani, I love it and love that it lasts about 2-3 weeks on my nails but I think I may have been converted to the Dip Powder Nail trend! So let’s get to it and let me walk you through a quick step by step!

First, I selected my color–there were so many to choose from! I wanted a pink color but not one that was too dark or too bright. These were the final three choices and I went with “Elite 26 Barely Pink”.

Tee first started off by filing and shaping my nails. My nails were already short so no cut was necessary. He then used the little file machine (which worried me at first) but just did a quick file over my nail and cuticle. He they did a layer of the “base” powder and topped with quick dry coat.

Once done with the base, he went over my nails with two layers of the dip power color I chose topping with quick dry coat each time.

Finally, once done with the powder he reshaped my nails, smoothed the nails with the file machine and file, topped off with another quick dry coat and voila you have gorgeous nails!

They say that Dip Powder Nails lasts the same as gel but that it is better for your nails. The removal process is so much faster than gel, less than five minutes! The BEST part is that it does not damage your nails when removing like gel does. You simply soak your nails in acetone for a few minutes and it falls right off. With gel you have to wrap your nails in the acetone cotton ball and wait at least twenty to thirty minutes. Then, they scrape what’s left of the gel off the nail which causes damage. So I’m excited about less damage to my nails! I will do a follow up on the removal and next Dip Powder Nail experience so stay tuned!
